As safe as lithium can get

When using LiFePO4 lithium cells, safety clearly comes first. Due to their compound structure, the cells are thermally and chemically stable and do not deform in any way, preventing them from igniting or exploding. Therefore they are considered the safest and long-lasting lithium cells on the market. Providing the highest reliable cycle numbers, while being safe for the user and better for the environment by omitting cobalt.
The LiFePO4 cells make this lithium ion battery especially safe.

Reinventing materials using glass fibre and ceramic

BOS has invested in creating a specific material that enables the battery to withstand all kinds of challenges. The housing of the battery combines recycled plastic materials with a high glass fiber content of up to 35% in load-bearing components. Some of the benefits provided by this material are the low thickness and weight. The added ceramic ensures an even heat distribution.

The BOS Battery S cuts every gram of weight, thereby making it 10% lighter than competing LiFePO4 lithium ion batteries and many times lighter than lead-acid batteries. In addition, the compact modules can be installed separately in the smallest of spaces. Whether lying down, standing up or overhead. This provides superior options when space is limited.

Smart enough to track its own state of health

Highly advanced battery management system

The BOS battery S integrates a high-performance Battery Management System (BMS) that follows the charging cycles and capacity of the battery. Hence, the objective is to fully understand each battery and prevent possible adversities. The smart and multiple sensors added to the battery aim to get ahead of the State of Health (SoH) in order to understand and optimize its performance. With this monitoring and tracebaility available,  the aging of the batteries can be undertood and it is possible to balance an optimum performance.

Unlimited options for communication

The BOS battery S offers unprecedented compatibility with current communication protocols. By default, the BMS communicates all data points via BOS bus, a protocol based on and compatible with CanOpen. Using the built-in JAE MX80 connectors, communication with any other protocol is possible by simply adding a hidden hardware expansion module. Alternatively it can be translated to other languages and connectors like USB or RJ45 using the external BOS connect products. Communication is already possible with optional configurations for RV-C, CanOpen, SFC CanOpen, Victron CAN BMS and Analog voltage signal. Bluetooth and many more will be possible in the future. This means the options for deep system integration are almost limitless.

Built-in hybrid technology enabling combinations of lithium and lead

The BOS Battery S can be used in combination with lead batteries. Quickly change the mode of the Battery Management System from lithium only mode to the patented hybrid mode. The preset behaviour of the battery is to leave the existing lead-acid battery as a backup power source during daily operation. During peak discharges, the intelligent BOS Battery S uses the capacity of both the lead-acid and lithium batteries in the hybrid mode to optimize performance.

With a charging time of only 1 hour and its swap concept, the BOS battery S fits perfectly for applications with charging stations where the lithium energy storage needs to be recharged in a brief time to be transported back to its operating location.

Fully certified

With safety and compatibility as a core value, the BOS Battery S has been extensively certified. In addition to CE, UN38.3 and others it is provided with an E1 certificate, which confirms the safe use of the battery in a vehicle. The use in motor homes and most other vehicles is therefore possible without any concern throughout Europe.
